Russell M. Cunningham, IV : Mr. Cunningham practices in the areas of general business and corporate law, business planning, federal and state & local taxation (including tax controversy/litigation), real estate, real estate finance, economic development, and wills and estate planning. Prior to establishing the Cunningham Firm, LLC in October, 2005, he worked in the taxation and corporate & securities practice groups in the Birmingham, Alabama office of Bradley Arant Rose & White, LLP. Mr. Cunningham is an honors graduate of the University Of Alabama School Of Law, where he was student editor of The American Journal of Tax Policy. He also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
Mr. Cunningham has co-authored book chapters on the state taxation of business entities; including chapters in the books Choice of Entity by Keatinge & Conaway and State and Local Taxation by Pomp & Oldman. He has also authored articles on tax and business planning issues for periodicals such as State Tax Notes, The Limited Liability Company Reporter, and Alabama Technology Today. He frequently speaks to business and professional groups on business planning and taxation issues.
Mr. Cunningham is a member of the American Bar Association, where he is an active member of its Tax Section’s Partnerships Committee and its Business Law Section’s Committee on Partnerships and Unincorporated Businesses Committee. Mr. Cunningham is also a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association. In addition, he serves on the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Finance & Taxation Committee and its Entrepreneur’s Roundtable. Mr. Cunningham also obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.
